The Sony Ericsson GC75 data modem is one of the first Type II PC Cards for notebook computers that has triple-band capability (GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz), and supports CSD, HSCSD and GPRS connections. Additionally, the GC75 can also be used to send SMS messages and perform fax transmission through the use of additional software. A data modem card, such as this one, becomes a very useful and effective tool for mobile professionals during times outside the office where the network is unreachable by other means.

The main feature benefiting users of the GC75 would be the GPRS connectivity - allowing for seamless and always-on connection. Furthermore, the various data compression methods available on the GC75 can assist in increasing data transfer efficiency - thereby increasing the data throughput rate by up to 4 times.
