it seemed that Wi-Fi was becoming about
as cheap and power-efficient as

everything down a notch. The AR5006x
tightly integrates all the components
necessary for 802.11a/b/g, making the
resulting CardBus and Mini-PCI cards
less of a draw on power and consumer
pocket change. Using digital CMOS
exclusively makes all these benefits
possible.
Besides supporting the big three
802.11 standards, the AR5006x can handle
802.11e bursts and has support for draft
"h," "i," and "j" modes. Realizing that
you actually have to reach the access
points around you, Atheros added XR (eXtended
Range) technology, designed to double
the range of previous designs. Even
security support is as good as it gets,
