Abstract Landscape

Offered for sale is this large, well framed, abstract landscape on board, untitled, but signed Geoff Prior ’93.

I have not been able to found out much about Prior. A Google search reveals that there is a Geoff Prior, artist, associated with both Woolowin and Wavell Heights High Schools (both north Brisbane suburbs). Australian Art Sales Digest has one listing for a “G. Prior”, The Orange Basket, selling for $220.00 at Leonard Joel’s, but I cannot be sure if this is the same artist. If anyone knows anything about Geoff Prior I’d appreciate an E-Mail.

I purchased this at auction, and have no further provenance. The painting is an abstract landscape, and all I have done is clean it, and varnish it. Whilst large and colorfull, the main feature is this superb frame – this is a large, heavy wooden frame, which has been hand built, and consists of an outer scalloped section, painted gold, with an inner white slip and white beading. The image size of the painting is 59 by 79 cms, the outer frame size is 89.5 by 109 cms, and the outer gold part is 9.5 cms thick, with the inner white section being 6.5 cms thick – This is a really big, heavy painting. The painting weighs 6.5kgs, and if I’m shipping this, extra protective packaging will make this 8.0 kgs. This is far too big for Australia Post, so I can send this around Australia with SmartSend/Allied Transport for $45.00 to the three eastern states (Qld. NSW & Vic.) – other states need to contact me for a direct quote. Pick up in Brisbane may be preferable – make sure you have a station wagon or 4 wheel drive. PayPal is my preferred payment option.

Alternatively, for Queensland buyers this painting can be picked up (local pick-up) in my rooms in Logan Central, just off the M1.Be aware that we take considerable time and trouble making sure paintings are very securely packed, and well protected for shipment (hence the extra handling fee).

My hobby (indeed, passion) is restoring old paintings, or alternatively presenting more recent paintings in the best possible condition. Unless stated otherwise all paintings are as near as possible to mint condition.
