German made Sterling Westminster Chime Mantle Clock The photos show the excellent condition of the clock. The clock is in very good running condition having been recently cleaned and oiled. It is complete with key and pendulum and should give years of trouble free service. The chapter ring is marked "Made in Germany" below 6 and has "Sterling" in gold letters below 12. The case has a light coloured wood on the front and the top and sides have a different grain, probably oak. There are two carved decorations on each side of the case - see photos. The Westminster chime is on five brass rods with five leather tipped hammers. The chime has a beautiful resonance probably due to the wood of the base which looks like European Spruce - the same wood is used in the belly of a violin. The 8 day brass movement is in excellent condition having been recently serviced. The clock has built in transport clamps to hold and protect the chime rods and there is a lever which can be used to lift the chime hammers if required. The clock is complete with key (marked "Hermle"). The pendulum bob has some age related shrinkage cracks on the back but these do not affect the operation of the clock which keeps excellent time. The clock's dimensions are 37cm (W) x 20cm (H) x 15cm (D). The clock weighs 2.6kg For postage the clock will be very well packed in bubble wrap and foam biscuits.
