Gitzo - heavy duty aluminium tripodThe Cambo monorail camera in the pictures is not included (see my other listings)
This is described as an "eye level base" but it extends to above eye level when using the geared column. It
has been very well used - I bought it off a professional photographer
more than 10 years ago. Quite a bit of the paint work has chipped off
and there is some light corrosion. I would describe the condition as
very usable but not pretty.
It is a heavy beast - capable of supporting a large camera. The plate on top of the head measures 100 x 170mm and can take two large screws - handy if you want to hold a monorail. The
top plate is so big it is like a table. I put a spirit level on it to
check the alignment. The top of the plate is covered with cork - which
is raising up a little bit in one corner (causes me no problem). The
geared column is smooth and satisfying to use. The main arm on the head has a damaged handle which does not affect use (you can see this clearly in the photos).
- geared column 700mm
- max height with extended centre column - 1950mm
- min height column down
- min height 700mm (head removed)
- closed height 850mm (head on)
- weight (approx 5kg)
- max load - large camera such as monorail
- 3 section legs- diameters approx 40, 33, 29 mm ( I don't have calipers so I did some math)
- top plate - 170 x 100mm (great for a monorail as you can have two anchor points)
- second disc at bottom of centre column
- ring locks - all fully functional
-
circular plate - to replace geared column
Who would want a beast
like this? Anyone after great stability at a reasonable price (have you
seen the price of these things new?) One thing you can be certain of is
that if you take this monster out in the field knock it around and it
is not going to look any worse for it.
In the pictures I have shown a Cambo ball head (not included - see my
listing for Cambo Monorail for this) mounted straight on the legs using
the circular plate. This arrangement saves a significant amount of weight
by leaving out the geared centre column. I am sure that there are many
similar ball heads available - some specifically for 35mm cameras.
If you are in Sydney come and pick it up in person, or contact me well before end of auction to arrange an inspection.
