Gorgeous "Danish Style" Sideboard made by in the U.K. by the well known "G Plan Furniture" in the late 60's showing the best qualities of vintage sideboards for that era. Top quality construction and superb design has produced a piece that is excellent value for money. This item set the trend for others to follow in the 60's in th UK. The Teak veneering, sculptured Teak "Clasp" handles, dovetailed joints, hidden brass hinges, protective edges, "stretcher style" apron, round slim & tapering legs, divided cutlery tray, large cupboard space and drinks cabinet, points to a sideboard that was ahead of most of the local competition and equal to the Danish imports. Quality such as this is ahead to most of the Parkers, Nobletts, Chiswells & Flers in this category.
Unless you know of English immigrants that have Danish style furniture, these pieces are almost impossible to get in Australia. This is a rare opportunity to own, invest or collect a classic vintage piece that will stand the test of time. This design would compliment any modernist setting and probably enhance whatever you already have. Difficult to find an item so easy on the eye yet stylish in every sense.
This sideboard offers heaps of space as well as a sleek lowline look that just oozes style. Superb sculptured handles of solid Teak as well as magnificent Teak veneering all over, coupled with excellent Mahogany veneering inside, epitomizes the "Danish" style so prevalent in middle of the last century. Beautiful golden honey color that will compliment wooden floorboards or tiles. A classic retro beauty that is getting harder to find even in th UK.
Plenty of storage space as one can see from cupboards and solidly built drawers. Cleaned, oiled, & buffed it is now ready to do service. Being used furniture, they have the usual bumps, bruises and marks as shown on the pics. The item is in extremely good vintage condition both aesthetically & structurally. Overall, the condition is about a 7.8/10 considering it's as about 35-40 y.o. Perfect compact size for just about any living room.
