The KONG is a chimp MKII head,with basically the same circuit but ever so slightly different.The amp pushes out 5 watts RMS on pentode mode switchable to 2.6watts RMS on triode.The amp is enclosed in a tweed enclosure measuring 20cm X 17CM X 37cm.weighing in at under 7kg,so very portable.
The amp is a single ended Class A valve amp,do not confuse this with a cheap transistor,this has enough poke for small venues. The high quality toroidal transformer from the original Chimp has been upgraded to an even better model and we still use the military grade capacitors.
The head is powered by two valves both of which are JJ(Formerly Tesla) straight from the Slovak republic manufactured to the highest standards on some of the original valve equipment from the Tesla era.
The valves used are one 6L6GC and one 12AX7,the 12AX7 is also enclosed by a "No ring ring tm" designed by the wonderful people at www.designbuildlisten.com this is a high temperature damping ring designed to reduce microphonics within the valve. The head has both 8 and 4ohm out for connection to cabinets for the speaker of your choice and also has an XLR DI out port for direct to desk.
