A lovely medium sized print from the original oil painting by Sir Hans Heysen.

Printed on fine art paper

 

Born in Germany on October 8 1877 Hans Heysen came to Australia at the age of 6. He studied art at the Norwood Art School in Adelaide with Julian Ashcroft and overseas in Italy, Britain, Holland and France at the Academie Julian, Academeie Calarossi and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Returning to Australia he lived at Hahndorf outside Adelaide and became renowned for his watercolour and charcoal portrayals of the Australian bush.
Awards won included the Wynne Prize nine times between 1904 and 1933. Knighted for services to Australian Art in 1959 he died in Mount Barker South Australia on 2 July 1968.
