HEAVY Edwardian Solid Silver Hand Mirror. Decorative

A lovely heavy solid silver hand mirror - dating from the late Victorian period or early Edwardian times. This is a substantial mirror with highly raised floral decoration on the back. The decoration consists of a bunch of little marigolds with foliate leaves and buds to the right and to the top left hand side spilling out onto the rim of the mirror - the decoration to the edging is rather art nouveau in style. I like the way the leaves spring out of the handle. This would look lovely on display sitting on an art nouveau dressing table.

So far so good - however, there is a slight problem with this item - there is a noticeable dent to the rim when you turn it over to the mirror side at the top and the mirror has a tiny touch of blooming but nothing major and hardly noticeable. There are NO dents to the back of the mirror where all the flowers are - although reflections in my photographs may look like that - the back is in excellent condition.

This piece is not hallmarked but is impressed STERLING at the top of the handle where is meets the mirror sections.

Anyway, if you can live with the ding at the edge, this is a most decorative dressing table item and very nicely crafted. It certainly looks the part. It's a nice size too, being some 24 cm in length and the mirror section is 13.8 cm in width.
