Woven in the 1950's this rug is in excellent condion. There are no signs of  wear, the rug should last its owner at least another 60 years. It was woven in the North East Region of Iran in the holy city of Meshad, one of Iran's foremost rug weaving centers. It is a relatively fine weave, the wool is soft and lustrous and is lambswool. The rug is extremely heavy weighing about 45kg. Ideally suited for commercial use or a heavy traffic area.

The colours are well balanced. The field colour is an attractive Royal Red and the golden scrolls in the field are most attractive. The ornate dome design central medallion is stunning. The colours are typical of this type of rug; blood red, sky and navy blues and cream.The colours have mellowed beautifully with time.

This piece is a fine example of its type and sure to appreciate in the years to come. Please note this is a stunning piece woven by one of Iran's most famous weavers.

The wool is of excellent quality and has been hand dyed and hand spun. The floral design is very regal. The outer border is deep softened blue. Please examine the back of the rug to appreciate the finesse of the weave.

All woolen pile woven on cotton. The weave is quite fine and strong as can be seen on the close up picture. Taking two weavers the good part of a year to weave. The wool is soft and of excellent quality. It is an oversize full room size carpet, most collectible and valuable. It will add instant ambiance to any room. Suitable for a dining area or a formal room.
