This stunning Huge Lilian was woven by Villagers in the Central West regions of Iran(Persia). It is an uncommon, older weave woven in the past 25 years, is strong and durable and in fantastic condition for its age. This beautifully woven rug is a typical example of Village weaving. No signs of wear, no repairs or defects.

Vintage Lilian rugs are very collectable. They are one of the few village rugs with a floral design.They are incredibly strong weaves and ideal for a heavy traffic area. 

The dyes used are most definitely vegetable/natural dyes giving the rug a beautiful rich combination of earthy colours. The colours of this rug have matured beautifully with time.   Additionally the wool has been hand dyed and spun accounting for the subtle variations throughout the rug. Rugs of this quality are highly collectible and in high demand on the international market, a wonderful addition to any home.

 Q: Hi - I am just wondering if this rug is actually knotted or woven? - I know the base is woven, but am wondering about the repeated use of the word 'weaving' in many of your descriptions. thanks Gerda
A: Hello Gerda, Apologies for any confusion. This rug is definitely hand knotted. It is not woven. The pile is all wool and it is knotted on a strong cotton foundation. Kind Regards Paul.
