These great shoulder bags are two of our most popular items. They have the wonderfully traditional look of true ‘satchels’. Like all our bags of this size, they will comfortably hold an A4 book and papers and suit both men and women alike. You can take these bags anywhere for everyday use. 

We're offering this bag in two styles - one with square corners (SMP) and one with rounded corners (SMPR).

The leather is strong and durable and yet it is light in weight and will age beautifully, becoming softer, darker and more flexible over time.

We now offer padding in our medium, large and extra-large satchels, flap bags and messenger bags. For customers purchasing these styles as a laptop bag, this padding will help to protect your computer. While the padding is dense, it is also unobtrusive so it won't substantially reduce the internal space of the bag if you don't intend to use it for a laptop.

The inside of these bags is divided into three separate compartments so it is easy to organise and find your things. They have two zippered pockets on the inside and, on the outside, a small buckled pocket and a leather flap secured with two buckled straps.  The internal lining is in sturdy green canvas. They have long, thick, adjustable leather shoulder straps.

Each of our bags is individually made by experienced craftspeople in India using goat leather. Being handmade, each bag is different. There may be variations in the colour and texture of the leather and the leather may be pieced together differently on each bag. They are all beautiful to look at and lovely to hold.

The leather used for these bags is not chemically treated so, initially, it has a distinctive earthy smell which fades over the first 4 - 6 weeks of regular use.

Why goat leather?
Largely unknown in Australia, goat hide is an all-purpose leather that combines comfort and softness with durability and strength. Traditionally, it has been used for sturdy work wear, designed to last.  It is flexible and water-resistant and does not crack or get hard when wet.

Treatment and Care
We recommend and sell a product called Renapur Leather Balsam which you can use to soften, protect and water-proof your bag and, indeed, all your leather goods including shoes and jackets. Renapur can also be used on vinyl, car interiors, timber, terra-cotta, marble and slate. At just $28 for a 200gm tub, it is seriously long-lasting and economical to use.
