Here's the handiest little 240 volt test bulb ever - I've carried and used one of these every day for 3 decades now, and have yet to find better!

Unlike neon testers, this 10 watt, 250V incandescent bulb ($5.00 each!) won't give false readings, and can be used to read both 240 and 120 volts (full brightness = 240V; half brightness = 120V).

Fastest way to check dryer elements, range bake and broil elements, surface units, and most anything else electrical. (For example, if there's voltage to the element, but no heat = open element. Fast and easy!)

Not an imported product, but carefully handmade right here in the mountains of Northern PA by yours truly, this tester includes 18" leads with alligator clips soldered on. Bulb screws into a candelabra socket, and is easily replaced if it ever burns out. Easily carried in a pocket, where mine always rides, and way more compact than a voltmeter.

I use one of these constantly, and thought you might benefit from one too.
