1906 Australian gold half sovereign, King Edward VII, St George reverse, Sydney mint, (Michael Marsh catalogue number 523).

Composition 91.67% gold, 8.33% copper. Size 19 mm. Weight 3.994 grams (22 carat 916.6 fine). Pure gold content .1177 ounces.

Condition almost uncirculated. Microscopic surface marks only, mostly confined to the obverse. Reverse virtually uncirculated. Strong strike. Quite rare as such.

This coin was acquired at the auction in November 2005 in Melbourne, Australia, of the gold holdings of the Reserve Bank of Australia, thus has historic significance and strong investment potential. Comes in the original Reserve Bank packaging of Downies Coin Auctions Australia.
