Heard of the artful dodger? The name Artful Dodger has been a name clearly heard from any place. In a novel called Oliver Twist, the artful dodger is a pickpocket, so-called for his skill and cunning in that respect. As a result he has become the leader of the gang of child criminals, trained by the elderly Fagin.

The nickname "Artful Dodger" is still commonly used to refer to someone who is good at avoiding responsibility or the consequences of his or her actions. "Artful Dodger" is also Cockney rhyming slang for "lodger".

Aside from novels, the Artful Dodger have also been popular on some movies. The role of the Artful Dodger has also been played by several notable performers. British actor Anthony Newly played the character in a 1948 film adaptation of the story. The role was amplified in the musical Oliver!. In the 1968 film Oliver!, Jack Wild played the role and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

In Walt Disney's 1988 animated feature film version of Oliver Twist, Oliver and Company, the character of the Artful Dodger was changed to a streetwise anthropomorphic mutt simply named Dodger. The voice was provided by musician Billy Joel.

At least two different books about the Major League Baseball club known as the "Dodgers" have used this character's name as a play-on-words for their titles: The Artful Dodgers, edited by Tom Meany; and The Artful Dodger, by Tommy Lasorda with David Fisher.

But aside from those, the artful dodger is also present with clothes. The Artful Dodger Clothing is a line of urban and streetwear clothing lines for men that includes hoodies, jeans, and T-Shirts. They got the term Artful Dodger from a British colloquialism for someone who is skilled at avoiding the consequences of his or her misdeeds. The phrase is a reference to Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, in which the character known as the Artful Dodger is a child protégé to the criminal mastermind Fagin.

The first line of Artful Dodger Clothing was first introduced to the public in 2007 of November. The brand was then bought by hip-hop artist Jay-Z in a joint venture with Scion, LLC. in the same year. Every design of the Artful Dodger emphasizes mischief while having fun doing it.
