Vintage enamelled hearts Viol Kuttrolf glug glug decanter & glasses Jacob Bang 1950

This lovely set is in very good condition.

The decanter is from the Viol range designed by Jacob Bang for Holmegaard. This particular piece is hand enamelled with a heart design and was produced around 1950. It can be seen below:

The matching glasses can be seen at a different museum site and were also designed by Jacob Bang.

There are no chips or cracks to the pieces. The enamelling is in lovely condition and shows no wear. The original crown stopper to the decanter fits well. The base has a polished pontil.

There is some etching appearing as clouding of the glass to the inside bottom of the base and a few spots to the walls near the base. This occurs when alcohol is left in the decanter for some time and as it evaporates it leaves a residue which etches the surface of the glass. This is best shown when using a flash and appears worse than under normal conditions. These cloudy marks disappear when there is any liquid within the decanter.

The decanter is 255mm tall. The glasses are 103mm tall. The set weighs 930gms.

For North American users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
