A beautiful piece offered in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or restoration of any kind.

 A short history of the Beswick horse. 

  Arthur Gredington was the first full-time modeller at the family owned Beswick factory and his influence was enormous, for he had a great talent for modelling not only accurate and realistic animals of all kinds but also ones of the comical variety.

In 1969 a decision was made to sell the factory to Royal Doulton, but fortunately these wonderful horses continued to be produced by the talented artisans that had been doing them for years. Beswick animals continued to be produced, but, with some rationalisation including  reducing the number of colourways of the horses and withdrawing many pieces. 

In August1989, the decision was made to make the vast remaining animals produced at the Beswick factory into Doulton Animals, and the pieces were all issued with DA nos.  At the same time grey and palomino matt colourways were withdrawn from the horses' colourways and only a few continued to be available in grey and palomino glosses.

In September 1999, ROYAL DOULTON moved their complete range of animals (with the exception of limited edition models) to the BESWICK backstamp.

 Sadly at the end of 2002 Royal Doulton ceased all production of Beswick products.

These models will carry either the beswick or doulton stamp depending upon year of manufacture but were only made after Royal Doulton bought the factory/
