HYDRO SEAL TAP SEAT REFACING TOOL    note paypal only ##

NEW.

This tool is a patented dedicated-tool for the task and  retails at $38 at Bunnings... I have used these for years and can thoroughly recommend them over other types.

It fits into the scheme of things below at "X" if you just want to cut out my verbiage...

Preliminary.   50% of taps just need the washer & the o-ring at the top changed & possibly the coarse internal spindle thread cleaned of old grease etc. You should buy a tool called a "tap bonnet thread cleaner" from Bunnings at $12.  This cleans the coarse thread at the top of all the gunk in it... making it spin like a top.

TIP... You should also buy some silicone GREASE (not silicone rubber !!!!!)  .  This allows the o-ring to slip and seal.   You can buy that at a bearing and Oring plavce like Timken or CBC.  Bunn may have it but not likely.

TIP... You should also buy Unasco thread sealing paste from Galvins.  It comes in a relatively giant tin at $35 and will last yopur lifetime.  It never goes off.  Bunn used to sell little ones but they've gone.  It complements the PTFE tape.  Tape bunches and takes up room.  This stuff can be used in conjunction or on its own.  It is briolliant.  You will start using it anywhere leaks occur eg olive compression fittings that require extreme tightening to seal.  Or in the body of the tap where red seal is.  If you must stay with tape at least buy pink plumbers tape not the shite white one. Bunn has it.

Another 45% need the flat dirty seat cleaned and re-squared. X    This is where this patented cutting tool comes in.  It can cut or just lightly polish at the end.   You use a drill and cut till the whole surface is shiny.   Some taps have a rounded seat (RARE)   Take care with these,,, only use the polisher/cutter if you have to..

About one in 20 or so (5%)  have a cracked seat or a seat with so much damage you cannot cut and polish it out.  For these, you replace the seat.  You do this by tapping a thread in the body down the middle where the water flows through and then screwing in a new seat.  You have to buy a separate kit for this.  There is a cheat way to get round a new seat.  You could try a soft rubber dome washer.   These will seal better, but if you have teenagers in the house forget it as they screw the taps down too hard and bugger up the dome washers.  Dome washers must be tightened softly.  I actually suggest you get rid of the teenagers... I did and am enjoying the benefits... WHOOP WHOOP.

PTFE is an acronym for Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylene, so now you can be a smart arse at the next BBQ.

I SUGGEST YOU PRINT THIS OFF IF THE INFO HAS BEEN OF USE TO YOU... THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PACKET ARE MINIMAL.  THEY ASSUME YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO IT AND WHAT YOU ARE BUYING.

THE POSTAGE IS CHEAPEST IF YOU LET ME SLIGHTLY BEND BACK THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE PACKET FROM 3CM TO 2 CM and pin it back with a tiny piece of sticky tape.  THEN IT WILL FIT IN A YELLOW A5 ENVELOPE WHICH I ADDRESS, STAMP AND THEN TOTALLY WRAP IN TRANSPARENT PACKAGING TAPE SO IT IS COMPLETELY SAFE FROM FALLING OUT.   THIS WILL COST YOU $3 FOR A LARGE LETTER.  (A "LETTER" IS ONLY ALLOWED TO BE 2CM THICK)

IF YOU WANT, I CAN SEND IN A 500G SATCHEL FOR $6, THEN IT WILL BE UNTOUCHED.   BUT UNLESS IT IS A GIFT, WHAT IS THE POINT OF WASTING $3 ?  The bit I bend back is a tiny section that only has paper in it... I don't really know why they added that bit to the pack.

I WILL ASSUME YOU WANT THE CHEAPER OPTION UNLESS YOU SPECIFY OTHERWISE.

IF YOU WANT TWO, WE MUST USE A SATCHEL THAT WILL HOLD TWO AND IT WILL THEREFORE BE $6.   THERE IS NO COMBINING OF POSTAGE DUE TO THE WAY "LETTERS" WORK

POSTAGE…  TWO WEEKS… PLEASE READ THIS

Please note…  This is coming from WA by STANDARD post.  It will probably go by ROAD.  It is 5000+km and road-post averages 8 to 9 business days (despite what Ebay and Australia Post say).

Therefore,   please DO NOT email me until 2 WEEKS have passed  (ie 10 business days).  There is no point in doing it earlier than 2 weeks as I cannot make it go faster.   Patience please  !!!!     Thank-you   Martin

PLEASE NOTE, I WILL BE AWAY FROM THURS 5TH NOVEMEBR TILL MON 9TH NOVEMBER AND WILL BE UNABLE TO ACCESS A COMPUTER. THIS MAY IMPACT ON THIS SALE OR AFTER IT, SO PLEASE BE AWARE OF IT .

I WILL BE BACK !!!  THIS IS TO WARN YOU WHY NOTHING IS HAPPENING FOR YOU DURING THESE DATES.  THANKS.    MARTIN

## SORRY… PAYPAL ONLY

NO BANK TRANSFERS....  DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE PAYPAL !!!    WHY?

Paypal customer

1. Usually instant. (money straight in and auto-advises me)

2. I send goods.

3. All over.

Bank-Transfer customer rigmarole.

1. I wait to see if Paypal

2. Nothing happens,  so I send general invoice as not sure of intentions.

3. Usually nothing still happens, so I write and ask intentions.

4.  I receive cryptic semi-illiterate reply like “a/c details?”

5. Before I send my a/c details, I need to check if they’re Nigerian, so I send

an Aussie test-greeting ** and their reply will tell me if they’re OK.

6. No reply again.

7. After 2 more days I ask for a reply.

8.They reply finally.

9. I send account details.

10. I watch my account every day, (which is a pain as you have to logon and go through all the usual bank security stuff… unlike Paypal that auto-loads.

11. After no deposit for 4 days, I write yet again asking what's happening.

12.A reply of sorts arrives " O wot buddy i bin so bizzy i 4got i wil send 4shore 2moro"  (a high percentage of transfer-customers communicate in this odd way...  little wonder our literacy is amongst the lowest of the Western World.)

Here’s an example of some gibberish I got recently which has no meaning  “ yo buddy yeah igot u no more 4 paypal crap ezee wen u say hey 2moro it wil be 4sure 2 U K? “    I’m unsure whether to categorise it under  Orwell’s 1984 or Kornbluth’s “Marching Morons”    (google MM if you don’t know it).

13. Anyway, finally an amount arrives (if I'm lucky).   I go through and balance it to an auction now nearly two weeks old.

14. I send it.

15. Because they didn’t read my 2 week time information, they send yet another illiterate email in 2 days asking why their package hasn’t arrived…

16. Men in white coats arrive to cart me off to loony-bin… a sad end…

SUMMARY The time in this is phenomenal... and utterly wasteful... and I'm simply not going to do it.   For these low value items, I must get the time down.   When you are manipulating many items and re-listing the same item sometimes every few days, these long delays become very confusing.   What I can't understand  is that Paypal is paid for by the seller not the buyer, so it’s so easy for the buyer.  They will even do it if you have no credit card.  There really are no excuses for a buyer and it seems to be a certain type of person that can’t be bothered… this personality trait of course carries over to every other aspect of their method of doing courteous business.

** why the “Aussie email”???   There are thousands of crooks out there trying to break into accounts and get stuff for nothing..  This is why I engage “bank-transfer people” in conversation first, to ensure their English is not Victorian (all Nigerians speak in a weird 19th century Charles Dickens' English… they’re easy to pick)
