It’s 1942. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbour, a Japanese submarine off the coast of Northern California submerges, stranding Matsuo, a young Japanese sailor. Four ten year old boys, Duke, Pee Pee, Willy and Tyler, discover Matsuo and take him prisoner, hoping to become local heroes. Meanwhile, as Japanese paranoia grows, the government begins to force Japanese-American’s to relocate to internment camps. After Matsuo rescues Duke from drowning, the boys no longer see him as an enemy and decide to help him escape. Together they experience the realities of war and peace and their action packed adventure sends them all on a journey of self discovery.
