INLAID ROADRUNNER COUROC MONTEREY CALIFORNIA BLACK TRAY

Welcome to Fluffy's Fun House and thanks for your interest in this unique black satin tray with a beautiful inlaid figure of a roadrunner in the middle. This was made in Monterey, California by a company called Couroc and the way it was made is quite interesting. The roadrunner was hand-crafted using abalone shell, old coins, metals, and woods from around the world, then it was fused into resin with heat and intense pressure giving the tray great durability.  No two items came out looking the same, each had its own character. In this case the design is a fun roadrunner  on a black satin-finish tray. 

As far as I have been able to research Couroc started in the late '40's and the original founder died in the '70's, after which Couroc was sold many times over and finally went out of business in the '90's. This is an early piece because it doesn't have a signature molded on the back, it does have a gold and black label explaining a bit about how it was made and how durable it is. 

This elegant tray is 18cm or just over 7" long, 15.5cm or just over 6" wide, and with its flared sides it stands 1/4" tall. 

Condition includes surface marks not noticeable in the photos but they are noticeable in oblique light.  Otherwise this has NO nicks, NO chips, and NO cracks.
