Early 257-year-old textbook and discourse on Latin …

Hardback, around four inches by seven tall (circa 105 mm x 175 mm if you prefer), has been professionally rebound in contemporary full calf leather. New end-papers. Back-strip protecting the spine features five raised bands, creating a compartment displaying the work's titling on a red label in contrasting bright gilt.

First edition printed for Hitch and Hawes [London] in 1752. No ownership inscriptions or permanent markings to the text. Although interior condition is overall very good for a printed item of this era, book displays signs of use and age -- title page augmented in facsimile at lower edge and rebacked professionally; taped repair to title and following preliminary page; occasional foxing / discolouration to some pages -- consistent with a printed object more than two centuries old. Three parts and Appendix bound as one to form the complete work: all [2 blank] + 92 pp + [2 blank] + 66 pp + 57 pp + 31 pp appendix are complete and otherwise correct.

The work's fuller title: "A Compendious Introduction to the Latin Tongue, Collected from the Best Grammarians both Ancient and Modern, with Useful Observations on the Whole. "
