JAGUAR Mk2 1961 3.8 ltr Manual CAMS Log Book RACE CAR

This Jaguar Mk2 Race Car known affectionally as the "Yella Terra", has been racing the NSW & VIC race circuits for years. It has raced Eastern Creek, Oran Park, Wakefield Park, Winton & Bathurst. As an example of times it has done a 1.56 at Eastern Creek & has done a 1.15 at Wakefield Park which are both very respectable times for a car in this class.
It is a 1961 Jaguar Mk2 original 3.8 manual still fitted with its original ID plate. The 3.8 manual is the most desirable of all Mk2's and it is very rare to see an original manual racing. Most Mk2's are either 3.4 or 2.4 Autos converted to a 3.8, which are very different in the floor pan.
This Mk2 is always a sensational looking car on the track & would be one of the most photographed Racing Jaguar's in recent times. It is currently CAMS Log Booked for 3J Racing which is classed as Club Racing. In its current form it would be legal to race Bathurst next year at Easter with the Festival of Sporting Cars (there is a pitcure of the Yella Terra on their home page)
It has run in the Historics for many years & would be legal for Group Nb when the 15" wheels are fitted back to the vehicle & the Log Book adjusted accordingly. It is currently fitted with the wider 7" x 16" Rims with Toyo race DOT tyres. Both sets of rims are sold with the car.

The GOOD
Motor fully rebuilt 6 race meetings ago.
3.8 litre/ 4.2 litre spec Race prepared engine using 11:1 Venollia short skirt pistons.
Fully balanced crank & shot penned Cosworth conrods.
Special baffled pickup assembely fitted to sump to prevent oil surge on corners.
Fully ported & bench flowed big valve head with matching Race cams.
Extractors & 2 1/2" system - sound great!
Bonds Full Cams approved Roll Cage
Triple SU Carbies
Tillwood Dual Pedal control assembly with Brake Bias adjustment
Freshly rebuilt brakes - no track time yet.
Original limited slip 3.77 Power Lok diff assembly with disc brakes.
4 speed Moss box with overdrive
Set of 4 x 16" x 7" Rims & tyres
Set of 4 x 15" x 6" Rims & tyres (tyres not currently fitted)
- Great looking Race car & you certainly couldn't build it for the price we are asking.

Raced the car at Winton, VIC last month & blew a head gasket. It still runs fine & the compressions are all good on all the cyinders except the two that are blown. It is a reasonably simple job to remove the head, machine the surface & flush the sump. It also needs looking at the gear selector as it was jumping out of second gear when powering off the line. Mechanics inspection welcome at buyers expense. We just dont have time at the moment to repair as our racing V12 Twin Turbo XJS is being rebuilt, so we are offering this up much cheaper for someone to take advantage of our lack of time.
Inside the car could do with a tidy up - I was going to fit alloy checkeplate to the floor with a foot rest, but havent got around to it. I fitted that to my other XJS Twin turbo race car (will be listed on E-bay shortly) & it is much better & easier to keep clean.
Some rust showing in the bottom of a couple of the doors, none in the body.
The car presents very well & it will be ashame to see it go, but it is not being used much these days as we are now running the XJS Twin turbo & are building a XK180 for the track. We are selling with no registration (We did have it on club registration - not transferable).
