JANE SAYS:
"My new workout consists of a 35 minute beginners class with 12 minutes of aerobics and a 55 minutes advanced class with 16 minutes of aerobics.
These programs have been developed in consulation with Dr. James Garrick, Director of the Centre For Sports Medicine at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco.
Both classes begin with a warm-up, then proceed to work the waist, arms and aerobics, floor stretch, abdominals, legs, hips, buttocks and finish with a cool down.
The New Workout is designed to strengthen and tone the muscles, develop flexability, increase endurance and burn calories.
To maximise the burning of fat calories during aerobics you must not allow yourself to become breathless. A song has been incorporated into the aerobic section as a fun way for you to test your breathing. If you can sing along without difficulty you know you're breathing properly and not pushing too hard."
TIPS:
1. Try to set a regular time to exercise and stick to it. Getting a routine going is half the battle.
2. Three time aq week on alternative days is the minimum number of Workouts you should strive for.
3. Turn off the phone before you start and avoid interruption. Momentum is crucial.
4. Empty your bladder.
5. Do not eat within an hour of exercising.
6. Be sure there is no draft and at least a 4 to 5 foot area to move about in.
7. Have a glass of water standing to keep you hydrated as well as an exercise mat or blanket to cushion your back and hips during floor work.
8. Wear comfortable, absorbent clothing that allows you to move freely.
9. Be sure to wear shoes with good cushioning and support for the aerobic section.
