Jean Patou couture draped evening gown, late-40's

Item Ref. #3262 - An utterly exquisite example of old Hollywood glamour from one of Paris' finest couturiérs- Patou. Not to mention the fact that it is indeed a very early example to be available on the open market. From the original 'golden age of couture' era, and an extremely fine representation.

Fashioned from endless yards of black crepe, with beaded tulle appliques of acanthus scroll, which extends & tapers across the bossom, waist and ends at the back.

The tips of the beaded appliques extend above the bustline to meet the skin of the wearer.

Having contrasting pleats to the bodice & lower waist, with the draped treatment ending at the side hip.

The gown's interior construction is as stunning as the exterior's design, with a boned internal corset which also has bust support. With many hand finished details.

Lined in silk, and fastens at the side with hook and eyes for the interior corset, and also with a zip for the dress itself.

Measurements: Bust 36", Waist 28.5," length from neckline to side hem is 56."
Note that the measurements provided do not mean that this is what the wearer's body measurements should be, you have to allow for some free space.

CONDITION

The condition is almost excellent. There is some bead loss to the tulle appliques, but this does not detract, as the pattern is so busy, we feel this is very minor, and for a dress of this astounding quality & rarity, it should be overlooked.

Though the majority of issues in items we sell are very small, minor & insignificant, as the pieces have been well looked after. Issues that tend to happen with vintage garments most commonly are things such as discolouration & bead/sequin loss. If something is described as excellent, this does not mean mint condition. Instead, this means that apart from the expected small flaws which have occured simply from age, which one should expect to find. A client may request further information on the condition report with additional images illustrating any issues, by contacting us directly. However do list anything we consider to be appropriate, whether very small or large.

Shipping within the UK is aimed at 3working days to arrival, whilst the USA & Europe are quoted at 7-10working days. We will only ship items via a trackable carrier.

Returns are accepted for UK orders only if these requirements are met... We keep very accurate & detailed images of all condition issues with each garment, therefore we do encourage you to request a detailed condition report.
We must be notified within 24hours from confirmed receipt of your item that you wish to make a return.
The item must be posted back to us in exactly the same condition as when it left (this includes make-up marks, etc.), and sent back within 48hours from receipt.
It must be insured for the full purchase amount, until we receive the item you are liable for damages/lossage.
We reserve the right to deduct a 10% re-stocking fee if we feel the item has suffered stress damages, please keep in mind that our items are one of a kind, and sold as pieces of art, being very fine & NOT meant for anything less than very fine handling.
