WHOLESALE / TRADE-IN CLEARANCE - MUST BE SOLD – NO RESERVE! Offered to ebay members without reserve is this Jeep Cherokee Classic. Produced in The XJ was selected by Robert Cumberford as one of the 20 greatest cars of all time, calling it “possibly the best SUV shape of all time, it is the paradigmatic model to which other designers have since aspired”. This particular example was delivered new in 1997 and presents in charismatic deep green with grey leather/cloth sports trim. Fitted with air conditioning (nice and cold), power steering, central door locking, power windows, full instrumentation and more, this Jeep is well equipped and is a great 4x4. The Jeep is supplied with two keys, and has now covered approx 2255,000k’s. Given the rather subjective nature of older vehicle assessment, your personal inspection is advised. In this way, you may form your own opinions of the car and can judge whether or not it will live up to your expectations. As a guide, my opinions of the car and its condition are as follows COACHWORK: Is in good general condition for the age and mileage of the vehicle, though is quite obviously imperfect given its 12 years in service. To that end there are of course imperfections to be found, the most notable of which would be a dent in the front offside guard just aft of the trafficator lamp. Aside from the obvious, this is still a good looking jeep with a nice front nudge bar, nice wheels and shiny paint. The body is reasonably straight and exhibits no sign of previous accident repair. On the whole, a clean, tidy and presentable example sure to impress anyone who is realistic in this end of the market. TRIM & INTERIOR: Is in very good order and certainly belies the cars age. The seats remain in nice condition (minor fatigue to the entry/exit bolsters of the drivers seat) along with the carpets, door trims and dash. There appears to be nothing missing from the cabin it is quite clean and tidy. Again, while not a new car, this Jeep really does present very well. MECHANICALS: Powered by Jeep’s gorgeous, robust 4.0L 6 cylinder engine, this Cherokee performs well and feels good on the road. The engine fires strongly and is very smooth holding good oil pressure and perfect operating temperature under all conditions. It does not blow smoke, it does not appear to be using or losing fluids, the steering is lovely, the brakes feel great (with the typical clunk on initial hard application) and the auto seems to shift well. Pleasingly there is little to none of the diff growl that is usually associated with this model and the car is smooth on the road. There are no warning lights illuminated on the dash, the air conditioning is nice and cold and, all things considered and remembering its age, this should still be a good, reliable Jeep for its next owner. As mentioned previously, I advise and welcome any interested party to come and take the car for a test drive themselves or to send a friend, relative or mechanic in to inspect it on your behalf – being interstate is certainly no excuse! As I say in every one of my listings: common sense should tell you that my personal opinions reflected in the above listing and 12 digital photographs are no substitute for your own detailed inspection and test drive. I have no idea what would be required of this vehicle to pass a RWC – I am not a mechanic so I can not speak to this subject with any authority. All personal and/or mechanical inspections are invited and most welcome prior to auctions close.
