A superb, good sized example of arguably the most collectible of all Australian Art Pottery. A John Perceval Nautical themed vase produced by the AMB Pottery, ca 1944- 1962. AMB (named after Arthurs grandfather- himself an eminent Art Potter) was established by Painters Arthur Boyd, John Perceval and Potter Peter Herbst in 1944 when they purchased Hatton Becks studio in Murrumbeena Melbourne. The vase is consistent with wares produced by AMB both in clay used, and the whimsical, yet modernist decoration applied- in this case to both sides with some variation by Perceval- an established Painter who did indeed paint many a Seaside theme on canvas. Base is appropriately hand signed AMB JP as shown. Condition, importantly at this level of collecting, is absolutely faultless, no chipping or cracks. A consistent uniform crazing to interior only.
