eye catching, huge edges (35mm) and hitting zone complimented by a fantastic

Thanks

will represent fantastic value so keep an eye out. Please read further as there is some very useful information on the bat making and selection process.
Choosing a Right Grade of
Willow
Well first thing that comes in most people's mind while choosing
a bat is the willow grade, so does is it really going to make any difference on
the performance of the bats, in my opinion it does, grade 1 English willow will
usually out perform Grade 2, 3, 4 English willow. My reasoning for this is
normally Grade 1 English willow is naturally air dried which allows the willow
to perform to higher standard (Better Ping) hence the higher price for Grade 1
English willow. Importantly, it is also about how you select the bat &
prepare it as well you must knock the bat in correctly I will only be
happy to give out advice to any on who asks on how to do this properly. Below
are also some fantastic pointers utilised as a guide to achieving this outcome.
Remember, it is never the brand of the bat, it is the grade
of English willow utilised in making the bat that matters most.
1. Number of grains – up to 6, this means willow is younger so
therefore it will generally have a longer life, but punch or ping is less. So
you need to work on more knocking in both net play (gradual knocking) and also
with your mallet, it will take time for this willow to play with that ultimate
ping.
2. Number of grains -7 to 12-approx - willow is of moderate/middle age
and has better ping then the above willow
mentioned, but yes time is required to prepare the bat, though not as much
required as for younger willow. Life of the bat is lower then the above case. (The
Bat For Sale Fits Into This Category)
3. Number of grains - 13 and above, willow is highly matured and has
a superb ping, pros usually select this type of willow as this does not require
preparation at all but at the same time bat
life is very less, some times a few matches only, but these are pros and
they can afford these particular bats as it is generally at the sponsors
expense)...but having said this I would recommend a little bit of bat
preparation. Remember the professional players have at anytime 10-15 bats in
their kit, so if one breaks there is a replacement.
Most if not all of the English willow supplied to make bats
comes from JS Wright & Sons based in UK; they do the grading themselves
before dispatching the willow to big manufacturers. There is a process of
naturally air-drying and kiln drying (using heating to make willow dry
quicker), all grade 1 bats are naturally air
dried!!!!
Pickup/Balance & Weight are attributes, which are affected
by a few factors like style of playing, batting position, bounce on the pitch,
Pickup /balance & Weight are categorized as follows.
Pickup - Light or moderate or heavy
Weight - Light, Medium, Heavy
Light Weight is 2lb 8oz to 2lb 10oz (The Bat For Sale Fits Into This Category)
Medium Weight is 2lb 11oz to 2lb 12oz
Heavy Weight is 2lb 13oz and beyond
Light Weight bats are more specific for players who
require a higher bat speed. Especially for players who open the innings and are
facing fast bowlers with a new ball, especially for batsman who require higher
bat speed (The Bat For Sale Fits Into This Category)
Medium Weight bats usually used by middle order
batsmen, as they don't have any definite strategy to score, they only need to
materialize the innings. Most middle order batsmen like to have a medium weight
bat as it moderates the performance in all facet of game whether you need fast
scoring, more balanced and focused scoring or even aggressive scoring at any
point of time.
Heavy Bats are for those players who are more
balanced and can play strokes effortlessly by easily middling the ball, a
heavier bats gives the batsman the power needed to clear the boundary rope
easily!!!! Also aggressive scoring in slog over’s, can also be done with
heavier bats as you need more power generation and more weight generally
generates more power for an equal bat speed,
this requires extremely strong forearms!!!!
