Report itemLACQUERED TRINKET BOX/Japanese style/NEW This is a lovely and very elegant Japanese Lacquered Trinket box. Coloured Black, the very high gloss finish looks like glass. Shiney as a mirror. On the lid of this box there is an insert of a gold coloured metal depicting a motif of blossom on a vine, actually raised above the surface of the lid. Gleaned from the Web: In the late 16th century Aizu wares developed, and saw a peak in their production in the Meiji period. One Aizu technique is that of etching designs or images into the surface of the lacquer, and then filling in the space with gold or other materials. This item is of a high quality. The lacquered finish is equally as good on the inside and the bottom and sides as it is on the top. There are no manufacturers identification. The box is 11.5 x 11.5cm square. x 4.5cm deep. The box is in perfect condition. Never used. Comes in the original box. What a lovely gift it will make!
