LG LST-5100P High Definition Set Top Box

This set top box has been used by an 92 year old lady, and I cannot get it to work properly, but I am no expert.  When turned on it says "Hello" and then fades out.   I don't feel like perservering with it.....I haven't had it tested or taken to a repair shop.  Probably a good bargain for someone who knows what they are doing!
