This is a rare collectors model in 1:43 scale by Best Model of Italy, brand new in original packaging, Best Model item number 9349.

This is a finely detailed model of the Lancia Beta Montecarlo. In 1982 the opening round of the World Championship of Makes was at the Monza Autodrome over 1000 km. Scuderia Vesuvio entered this Beta Montecarlo Turbo in Group 5. They were slow in practice but came good in the race and finished a creditable 5th outright. Drivers were Mario Casoni, Joe Castellano and Mark Thatcher.

This model features accurate cast alloy wheels with knock off hubs and correct profile Dunlop race tyres. The body is very nicely proportioned and depicts the original car very accurately. Other features include rear view mirrors, photo etched wipers, photo etched wing stays and front spoiler stays, tow points, rear spoiler plus all the correct badges, vents and grilles. The underbody detailing includes chassis tubes, turbochargers and exhaust system.

The interior is also beautifully done, with fully detailed dashboard and instrument panel with all controls and other features shown, gearshift lever, race seat and harness, pedals, roll cage, fire extinguisher plus many other race related details.

Best Model items come mounted on a black plastic plinth in a clear plastic display box with outer cardboard window box. This item is brand new in original unmarked packaging.

Best Model
Best Model is a long established Italian maker of detailed scale models in 1:43 scale. All items are well researched and produced with meticulous attention to detail and a high level of finish. Their range covers classic sports racing and road cars from the Forties to the late seventies. They are part of the M4 group who also produce Art Model and Rio.

These models collectors items and are not toys. They are made in diecast metal with many other materials included for detailing, such as plastics, rubber and fine photo etchings on most items.
