Large Rare Australian Blackwood Wooden Jewellery Box
29 cm (length) x 19 cm (width) x 9 cm (height)

This beautiful large jewellery box has a lid made from rare Australian Tasmanian Fiddleback Blackwood. The inside is lined with triple black velvet and includes a removable tray with ring slots. It is the perfect gift for any occasion, male or female.

Every box purchased is crafted individually and the grain will vary slightly from the box shown above.

Blackwood is a medium size tree native to south eastern Australia and Tasmania. It grows in rainforests to a height of approximately 35 metres. It is a close relative of the Hawaiian Koa wood, which is famous for use in musical instruments.

The heartwood varies from a lustrous golden brown to reddish dark brown with curly to interlocked grain. Blackwood is known for its unique and striking fiddleback, which occurs only in select trees, giving the wood a quilting effect reminiscent of gathered silk. Fiddleback is highly sought after by woodworkers for furniture, craft and musical instruments.
