Most of the items I sell are older than 30 years and are usually second hand and sold as COLLECTABLES unless stated otherwise.
I DO NOT use them or put film through cameras but I usually check light meters, shutter speeds, viewfinder and cosmetic conditions on cameras. On lenses I check for fungus, wipe marks and general overall condition. I DO NOT describe every small nick, pitting, haze spot or small dust particles in lenses. HAZE is not FUNGUS. If the condition is noteworthy I will describe it. Mechanical things over time wear and grease looses its viscosity......so take that into consideration when bidding. (PLEASE NOTE)MOST items I sell, ARE sold as collectables, BUT if you intend to use them to take photographs, then a service is recommended as there is NO guarantee on the performance of that item due to its age.
I REPEAT
(PLEASE NOTE)MOST items I sell, ARE sold as collectables, BUT if you intend to use them to take photographs, then a service is recommended as there is NO guarantee on the performance of that item due to its age.
All the best in your bidding and remember if you really want this item and bid late, bid high.
My Criteria;
A scratch is a deep mark or indentation on the surface of the lens from being dropped or hitting against a solid object.
-
Wipe marks on the front surface of the lens are made by the owner over many years wiping it with a tissue or cloth leaving very fine scratches.
-
Fungus is where the lens has a central spot with wavy arms leading away from that central spot.
-
Haze is in most but not all lenses and usually can only be picked up under a strong light but unless it is really bad does not affect the performance of that lens.
-
Separation is where the two elements are separating and leave a halo type image usually on the edge of the lens.
-
If any of the above is present I would describe it as such.
-
I have yet to see a lens that doesn't have some dust spots inside due to it's age unless that lens is virtually new.
- Batteries are getting difficult to obtain these days for some cameras and I will mention that in my description.
