Buying PA Systems & Live Sound
Equipment in Australia
This document was written by a professional sound engineer who owns and runs a Sydney based audio company. Since 1992 he has been mixing local and International bands in venues ranging from small pubs and clubs to Entertainment Centers and outdoor concerts. He has worked on most PA equipment available and is a self confessed gear head. He does not sell equipment and so is often asked to consult on PA purchases and installations for clubs etc. This was the motivation for putting this document together.
I played in bands during the 80’s, worked for two major record labels and after a year working for an audio company in the US and Canada I came back to Australia and started my own business. I have owned a lot of new and used audio equipment over the years and made many mistakes along the way. On my break in early January 2008 I started writing this document on audio systems for 100-300 people. I kept going and I believe the result would be very helpful to anyone who is about to spend their hard earned money on gear. I do not work for any of the companies I have recommended and I have bought their equipment myself. The following information contains my opinion only. When I showed this document to my partner she said do you really want to give away these “trade secrets”. Firstly I am not giving it away I am charging $10, Secondly there are no trade secrets here just good advice. I have included what I think you need to know to make an informed decision. It includes over 50 pages of information with pictures and an easy to use menu.
I hope you find this e-book useful and wish you the best with your endeavors
