Eucalyptus macrandra

A native of southern Western Australia where it prefers light to heavy, well-drained soils in a sunny position. It is drought, frost and wind tolerant. 

An evergreen, small tree of mallee form growing to a height of 12 metres with a spread of 4 metres; the stems are erect, slender and branching with smooth bark; the leaves are dark green, glossy, lanceolate to 10cm long; the buds are red grading to green, occurring in groups of 8 to 15 with long tapering caps (operculum); the flowers are bright yellow appearing in late summer; the fruit are cup-shaped capsules.
