WHY ARE HORSESHOES CONSIDERED LUCKY ? Over the centuries, horseshoes have been attached to entrance doors of dwellings to protect and attract good fortune to a household. In days past they were considered lucky because they were made by blacksmiths, blacksmithing being considered a very honourable and lucky trade. They worked by hand and created and formed real items with elemental fire and magical metals... believing, with special powers. It was also believed that a blacksmith could heal the sick and resolve problems and, should a blacksmith marry a couple then, they would be blessed with luck, health and happiness throughout their lives. Horseshoes, attached with their points upwards, would bring luck and act as a storage container for any good luck that happens by. In some parts of Europe, the points are hanging downwards, permitting any attracted good luck to flow out and surround the home. I like to have mine pointing up as, acting like a “bank” of good luck, to draw upon in time of need. Downwards to me, would be like wasting the flow, like letting money slip through my fingers. Some believe that golden horseshoes have that added attraction, that ability to attract a premium of good luck, happiness and wealth. Sort of golden good luck..golden happiness and golden wealth...if you know what I mean. It’s just like, when you buy this horseshoe from me, I will be a whole lot happier.... and a little bit wealthier!!
