WHAT IS MACA?

Maca is a carbohydrate root vegetable grown in the extreme 'Altiplano' (high plains) of Peru 4100 metre above sea level. Maca has been grown and eaten by the indigious people of that region for centuries. So powerful is maca's ability to has to take up nutrients that the plant was considered to be a gift from the gods.

Spanish conquerors discovered that their livestock could not reproduce effectively without eating maca. So valued was this plant to them that the conquistadores demanded payment from the Incas in tons of maca, not silver or gold. This maca was exported to the Spanish royalty. The Incas themselves had restricted maca to the their ruling class and soldier at war.

Maca's tuberous roots is used in South America raw, juiced, made into lollies and powdered into cakes

The nutrient value of maca in it's powdered form remains viable for 7-20years.

TASTE - sweet with a very mild taste and has been described as a faintly vanilla/nutty or butterscotch.
