MACOM EMRS-11F 350MHz..2GHz, IF DC-400MHz, +7dBm Dbl Bal Mixer (Qty.2)On offer are 2 new (old stock) Double Balanced Diode mixers by M/A-Com (now part of Tyco Electronics), fresh in cut factory tape.
[Note: these pictures are of my spares. You will receive yours in sealed tape ...] This is a current model, and an exact equivalent (second source) of the Minicircuits RMS-11F. As it says in the datasheet ...
"M/A-COM’s EMRS-11F is a Low Cost, Broadband, high performance Double Balanced Mixer designed for use in high volume wireless applications. The device has been optimised by careful selection of the Schottky Diode and Balun Transformer for excellent performance."
There are relatively few mixers which are suitable for experimenters on the 23cm / 1296MHz Ham band. Most (like the SBL-1 or 2) top out at 500MHz or 1GHz. However these EMRS-11F parts, designed for GSM mobile and GPS use are well suited to receive converters or transverters on 23cm, the lowest microwave Ham band. The most common scheme is to mix in an 1152MHz local oscillator to convert signals to the 144MHz VHF band where there's plenty of equipment and experience. In another experiment I used these to mix a couple of cheap mobile phone VCOs (like the MQE-504 I'm also listing) to get a DC-150MHz sweeper, and I'm sure you'll think of others ... These are SMD packaged devices, designed for reflow soldering on a PCB. However I've always just turned them upside down 'deadbug' style so the pads are more exposed and easier to deal with using a conventional iron, with some copper foil to ensure the grounding is effective. As mentioned, these are not so commonly seen, so might be worth picking up a couple for the parts drawer while they're available.
Part Information:Being a current model, full data is on the Macom website at the link below. Also given is a link to the MCL part data because it contains some useful graphs.
Price Reference:The main distributor for Tyco/Macom is Avnet, and they list the EMRS-11F at $5.48 US each, but with a minimum quantity of 900pc. Minicircuits list their equivalent at $6.25 each in much smaller quantity, but as usual shipping is an issue from outside the US.
About RFPlusRFPlus is now well settled in to his cosy nook down here in Cornwall - and with the Postal Strike averted (Ya-hay!!!) it's time to start on some new listings. I've discovered several boxes from previous projects, most parts now being surplus to my needs, and with the ever present need for cashflow it's time to liberate them here on Ebay. Listing always takes me a fair bit of time (so they'll appear slowly over the coming weeks) but if you've an interest in RF items, particularly Microwave frequency parts, then please check back because there are some real goodies coming up. In the meanwhile, I'll relist some items of which I still have a few and hope you'll find them interesting! For other info, visit my the 'About Me' page. If you're thinking of bidding/buying I'd ask that you visit that page at least once so you can read the 'Terms & Conditions' and a bit more about RFPlus. Click on the links below for more info ...
