The item up for auction is a circa 1990's Limited Edition Charles Billich print entitled MAGIC MELBOURNE.
The print is indicative of Billich's works, creating a modern almost surreal landscape using all of the iconic buldings and architecture that were present in Melbourne at the time of the original's creation.
Charles Billich is renowned throughout the world for creating distinctive art works for many major cities and, perhaps most notably, Olympic Games.
This is print number 139 of 500 which was originally purchased at MYER in Melbourne during the early 90's for over $500. Unfortunately, the original glass in the frame broke recently during a move - I've never actually liked the frame to be honest as it doesn't really do justice to the work and looks cheap and, I had always intended to have it reframed at some point.
The print is in absolutely perfect condition - no damage at all from the glass breaking.
Dimensions of the print are approximately 75cm high by 64cm wide.
Due to its size I recommend pick-up. However, if the winning bidder lives interstate or overseas I am prepared to help with organising shipping from Melbourne, but you will need to cover the packing and transport costs and, I would recommend a professional art work transporting company if you want to receive it in pristine condition. I will not roll it up into a postal cylinder.
When I last had this print valued for insurance purposes and, spoke to the Billich gallery, which was situated at Southbank in Melbourne, its value was estimated at in excess of AUD$5,000.
This is a fantastically iconic limited edition print with which I hate to part, but circumstance forces me to do so.
Good luck with your bidding.
