Origin: Italy

Originally from Asia, mandarins arrived in Europe via the Silk Road, in the baskets of caravans that stopped along the Mediterranean in the first century before Christ.

Traditionally, young girls used to drink a tea made out of mandarin or orange peel to help with the first menstrues.
