The magnets are placed in the valley of the convoluted base while your pet lays on the peak of the convoluted foam, making it just that much closer to the skin for maximum effect (the closer the magnet is to the skin, the stronger the magnetic field) It is well known that convoluted bases enhance breathing, comfort and circulation, while the magnetic field reduces pain, swelling and inflammation. The pet bed also has a detachable cover that can be washed. Directions magnets must face up.
