These MGs are simple to work on and easy to maintain as all parts are readily available and inexpensive. This one drives really well, is an ideal daily driver or turn key classic ready for both summer and winter. I'm selling it only because another classic has caught my attention and I need the garage space.
MG made a succession of alterations throughout the model's run, from 1963-1980, eg the engine went from three to five main bearings, and the gearbox got synchro on low gear, in the 1960s. Then they got flow thru ventilation via dash vents in the early 1970s, and in 1974 the rubber bumpers were fitted because American regulations at the time.
From about 1971 there were also variations in dashboard layout between US models and other markets, and US models got the full suite of pollution control gear, all of which I have removed from my car. However, being an American market car it is set up to run in unleaded gas, has three windshield wipers so more of the screen is cleared, and impact bars in the doors. My car has a dashboard molding that is a mirror image of the 1978 LHD dash panel; RHD (ie UK, Japan and Hong Kong) cars had a different dash altogether.
Because my car started life in the US it has NO RUST. There were no 'official' sales of MGs in Australia after 1972-3. Any later model than that now in the country will have been imported.
The car runs very nicely and is used about once a week.
