When I was a teenager in my first rock band, we dropped mics a lot. You might wonder what this does to the performance of said mics. Well it pretty much does to most mics what it does to most toasters; further deteriorate what little usefulness they ever possessed. That's why we used to say that what we really needed was a mic that could totally rock and still double as a ball peen hammer with which to brain your little sister.

Alas so many decades later BOCK has made my dream come true.

The BK-5.8 is nearly indestructible and delivers a great upper to midrange presence in a traditional hand held package. Its excels in the delivery of intelligible sound that makes vocals appear clean and crisp without sounding dry or brittle.

A good vocal mic must accentuate the warmth and clarity of lead and back-up vocals alike. It needs to cut in the mix. I t needs to be able to butt heads with the guitars without needing to be mixed up. Happily, the BK-5.8 succeeds on all counts and makes the vocals truly dynamic. Its unidirectional cardioid pattern is perfectly balanced for live vocal performance, sound reinforcement, and studio recording.

The BK-5.8 has a tough steel mesh grille that contains a wind screen filter which minimizes wind and "pop" noise. The cardioid pickup pattern isolates the main sound source, while avoiding the crosstalk and background noise. The BK-5.8 also boasts a specifically engineered vocal response which makes by design makes it the clear choice for nearly all vocal applications.
