Eremophila Maculata (Magenta Emu Bush' ) is a delightful native which grows into a medium, dense shrub around 1 metre high and wide.  It bears masses of stunning magenta-cerise tubular, typical emu-bush flowers produced over a long period, mainly from June to November.  The growth is upright and compact, and has mid-green leaves on magenta-like stems on the new growth.

 

Eremophila Maculata Magenta is well known in cultivation and grows well in dry climates on a variety of soils which must have good drainage. Magenta form emu bush is best suited to lighter soils, although it will tolerate moist soils if given full sun, and can cope with heavier soils.  To gain the best flower display, full sun is necessary.  Once established, this emu bush can withstand periods of dryness and frost.  It can tolerate coastal conditions.

 

This emu bush makes a delightful addition to any native garden, dry tolerant garden, or somewhere that needs the beautiful cerise colour to brighten things up. This plant, along with other emu bush varieties, is very attractive to birds.
