Mario's Fundamentals A board game for PC, originally to be released in 1994 (but not making its release until it was shipped in 1998) and starring Nintendo's Mario in an educational game of skill and fun. Mario's FUNdamentals (also known as Mario's Game Gallery) is a PC game developed by Brainstorm and published by Mindscape in January of 1997. Its gameplay consists of the player competing against Nintendo's Mario in games of checkers, Go Fish, dominoes, backgammon, and yacht (a version of Yahtzee). Mario is voiced by Charles Martinet, who has also done his voice in all other Mario games since Super Mario 64. The game was rated "K-A" (Kids to Adults) by the ESRB. Most game pieces and cards are represented by characters from the Mario series. For example, in checkers, one player uses baby Yoshis while the other uses Koopa Troopas; when one of these is kinged, it turns into an adult Yoshi or Bowser, respectively. It could be suggested that this inspired Nintendo to later use the same character-based theme for such items as cards in its minigames included games such as Super Mario 64 DS and The New Super Mario Bros, both for the popular handheld platform, the Nintendo DS. For Windows
