Art Nouveau Martin Hall & Co Martinoid Alistair Clark Trohpy c1885

This elegant piece is marked to the bottom Alistair Clark Trophy. It is marked to the underside of the base with the maker's mark M.H & Co and Martinoid E.P. Indicating the piece was made by Martin Hall and Co 1854-1897. Please see below to confirm.

Silver plate marks

I cannot discover what the Alistair Clark Trophy was.

The vase has a hammered finish to the outside and an applied rim with a garland decoration. The base is covered and weighted. The original join mark to the rim is clearly visible.

The piece is in good condition and although there are a few spots of corrosion to the inside rim it is surprisingly free from damage or wear. There are a few small scratches to the piece and some persistent tarnish spots in the recesses.

The vase is 250mm tall and 87mm across the top. It weighs 685gms.

For North American users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
