Matildas Own Maru (CIRCLE) Patchwork Template Set

3 Piece Template Set

 Maru is the Japanese word for circle which is very appropriate for this antique block. Great for a positive/negative look.

This set of 3 Templates are marked with seam allowances and marking holes at intersection points. The see through fibre optic templates allow you to "fussy cut" your prints. To fussy cut, place the template over the selected part of your fabric, centre as necessary then cut or trace.p

To make each "Maru" block:

  1. Cut 4 B Triangles (be careful to cut on the straight of the grain as marked on the template)
  2. Cut 4 A Pieces (straight grain on the longest edge)
  3. Cut 4 C pieces
  4. Stitch A and B together as shown in the diagram that comes with these instructions, then sew C in place

Hints and Tips
The holes on the curves of A and C align for easy pin matching. Pin and stitch a quarter at a time. Do not clip the curved seams. Press towards the C piece. Together they form a half. Repeat and sew the two halves together to complete the 8" block. Sash the blocks or abut them and watch a secondary pattern grow!
