Longmans, London, 1963. Signed copy. 1st Book by the author. Price clipped, 220pp.  Just a few light foxing spots to front and rear pastedowns. Light foxing to top page edges. Only very minimal wear to edges of Dustwrapper. Now protected in loose acid free plastic.

 The author has inscribed the front free endpaper to Gene, Wishing you enjoyment of this, but more especially every happiness in your forthcoming marriage,18 November 1963. 

 The story is centered around a mining village in Northumberland and the date is 1939.  Story of a close knit community.  The author was born in England and emmigrated to Australia.
