Mint wooden cased Wenoka dive knife with the blade inscription THE BIRTH of SPORT DIVING , COMMEMORATING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE WORLD'S FIRST PRACTICAL SCUBA SYSTEM 1942. The knife is the size of a large bowie knife. The blade has an upper cutting edge, the lower edge is factory sharpened with a wire/line cutting nodule. The blade is made of high tensile stainless steel and is hall marked 440-A Stainless steel Japan. The blade is serial numbered 1000. The knife is 13 7/8' in over all length with the blade being 7 3/4" long and is quite thick and heavy. The blades' tang runs through the brass and bakelite handle and is held in place by three sets of double brass tube fasteners. The dive knife is cased in a wooden blue satin cloth presentation case. The case is 17-" long nu 3" high by 6" wide and is put together by dovetailing glued edges. The case top has the Wenoka logo and the inscription A COMMERMORATIVE by Wenoka Cutlery. This presentation piece was made to Rich Wells, a well known scuba shop ownwer / operator of the Wet Ones, Vienna, Virginia in the early 1980s. I have left the surface patina on the knife. This is a very scarce knife, one that needs a new and appreciative home. Please see the accompanying photographs for more complete details. We accept PayPal, checks, MOs and U.S. Postal Orders. |
