About this book:

Di Morrissey is Australia's most popular female novelist: a “doyenne of Australian writing” – The Age

Monsoon... Is a journey into the hearts and memories of those caught in a certain time in a particular place.

Sandy Donaldson has been working for a volunteer organisation in Vietnam for the past four years. As her contract nears its end, she is reluctant to leave so she invites her oldest friend, Anna, to come for a holiday and discover its beautiful tourist destinations. Both girls have unexplored links to this country. Sandy's father is a Vietnam vet and Anna's mother was a Vietnamese boat person. During their travels they meet Tom, an old Australian journalist who covered the war and plans to report on the fortieth anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. It is Tom who tries to persuade Sandy's father to return to Long Tan and settle the ghosts that have haunted him for 40 years, and suggests that Anna should delve into her mother's past.

But the girls are reluctant, swept up in their own concerns, relationships, and a business deal that has the potential to go horribly wrong. However, it is the near-blind Buddhist nun living alone in the pagoda atop one of the karsts in Halong Bay who might hold the key.

She has written all her life - as a journalist, advertising copywriter, screenwriter and novelist.

Di's first book, 'Heart of the Dreaming', set in Longreach, was published in 1991. Di believes the success of her novels is due to them being written about and for, Australians.

Di's love of her country, her insight into issues confronting all Australians, has led her to include within her mass market, popular fiction novels, powerful themes - heritage, love of family, Australian identity, protection of the environment, reconciliation and awareness of Aboriginal culture, men and their search for spirituality.

While also being known as a television presenter on the original breakfast current affairs program, 'Good Morning Australia' she sits on several boards and is currently a member of the National Centre for Breast Cancer's Advisory Board, founding board member of Leadership Action Australia, honoured in the Businesswomen's Hall of Fame, Life member of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children and Patron of Southern Cross University's Centre for Whale research.

She is a tireless speaker for charities and always willing to assist in causes which she believes can help improve the lives of all Australians.
