Mother of Pearl is set in a small Mississippi town in the late 1950's. Populated by original characters, and weaving themes of identity and the true meaning of family, the story revolves around 28-year-old Even Grade, a black man who grew up an orphan and Valuable Korner, a 15-year-old white girl who is the daughter of the town whore and an unknown father. Each is seeking family, love and commitment.

 

Published by Flamingo in 1999, this book is in good + used condition.  It has some light wear to the cover edges and corners and a small mark to the edge of closed pages.
